Founded in 1986 by Hisayoshi Nakatsuka, ZYX of Japan represents the three elements of time (Z), amplitude (Y), and frequency (X). The ZYX MC cartridge’s “REAL STEREO” design philosophy encompasses 15 key design considerations, including magnetic field, current flow, grounding, output terminals, body material (non-magnetic), and cable orientation. ZYX cartridges are available in three series, all MC series, including the flagship Ultimate series, R50 series, and MONO series.
All ZYX cartridges feature a unique real-time power generation system that eliminates time-axis distortion through the use of multiple patented technologies. Hisayoshi Nakatsuka is the founder of ZYX. Throughout his career, he has designed countless classic phono cartridges. While at Ortofon, he served as a designer and developer, with his signature work being the Ortofon MC20. After leaving, he also designed the AccuPhase AC-1, 2, and 3, as well as Monster Cable’s Genesis 1000 and 2000. While at Kenwood Trio, he participated in the development of the world’s first optical phono cartridge. To date, he holds 15 design patents.
